The experts have spoken: these are the very best places to grab a slice across Europe (except Italy)
Thanks to the crust-munching experts at 50 Top Pizza, who have just revealed their 2023 ranking of the very best pizzerias in every other European country.
The first place went to Sartoria Panatieri in Barcelona’s Gràcia neighbourhood. Their pizza with roasted cherry tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil hollandaise took home the gold medal.
Second place went to Copenhagen’s Bæst, where Chef Christian Puglisi draws inspiration from Neapolitan pizzas and adds his spin with a sourdough base and organic toppings.
The winner of the metaphorical bronze medal was 50 Kalò, just off Trafalgar Square in London. The restaurant led by Ciro Salvo also came third in last year’s ranking.
Fourth place went to Via Toledo Enopizzeria in Vienna, Austria, with its gourmet pizzas and vast choice of wines. In at fifth was Pizza Zulu in Fürth, Germany. The man behind the menu, Gaspare Squitieri, considered one of Germany’s foremost Neapolitan pizza experts.
