This State Has the Most Expensive Pizza in America, With Pies Going for Almost $27

Pizza delivery app Slice released its annual Slice of the Union report, and after it “munched and crunched data” — their words — from almost 19,000 independent pizza shops, it determined that the average cost of a pizza can differ by up to $14 (!!!) depending on which state you’re ordering in. According to Slice’s numbers, the U.S. average for a large cheese pizza is $17.81. On average, the cost of a large cheese pizza from an indie pizzeria jumped from $16.74 in 2021 to $17.81 in 2022, an increase of 6.4%.

That same pie is, on average, the most expensive in Oregon ($26.94), followed by Washington ($23.34), Illinois ($22.52), Alaska ($21.74), and Colorado ($21.23.). On the other end of the spectrum, the five states where a large cheese pizza is the least expensive are Oklahoma ($12.70), Minnesota ($13.88), Alabama ($14.80), Kansas ($14.96), and North Dakota ($15.35).

Starbucks Debuts a New Line of Olive Oil–Infused Coffee

Starbucks has pioneered a number of coffee trends, including the infamous Pumpkin Spice Latte, and has engineered almost any type of Frappuccino imaginable. And now, the company is set to push the limits of coffee once again with its new Oleato coffee line, a coffee infused with cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. The infused olive oil is not just any olive oil you can pluck off your local grocery store shelf. Starbucks partnered with Partanna, a Sicilian olive oil company, which created a curated blend of olives from Nocellara del Belice in Partanna to pair with Starbucks Arabica coffee.

The Oleato series, which includes five new drinks, is indeed an exciting addition to its menu.  The Oleato Caffé Latte combines Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast with oat milk infused with the olive oil. The Oleato Golden Foam Cold Brew, shines with an olive oil foam that tastes like a creamy, decadent olive oil ice cream. For those who prefer a classic iced coffee, the Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso combines espresso, oat milk, and the new olive oil blend.

McDonald’s Is Testing Meat-Free McNuggets — But There’s a Catch

In 2020, McDonald’s introduced its McPlant line to offer plant-based burgers to its hungry patrons. And now, it’s testing chicken-free McNuggets to potentially add to its worldwide lineup, too. McDees announced its customers in Germany will have exclusive access to the new McPlant Nuggets at all 1,400 locations starting March 2023.

The highly-anticipated chicken-free nuggets are made from peas, corn, wheat, and tempura batter, using a recipe the fast food giant made in collaboration with Beyond Meat, according to the Associated Press.
