Uttar Pradesh set to become country’s only state to have 5 international airports
Uttar Pradesh is all set to become the country’s only state to have five international airports, following the foundation-laying ceremony for the Noida International Airport on November 25. The state already has international airports in Lucknow and Varanasi, and will soon have an international airport in Kushinagar, which is almost complete. The other two airports that will soon be ready are the Jewar Green Field International Airport in Noida and the international airport in Ayodhya.
Reports have it that the Noida International Airport (NIA), which is coming up in Jewar in Gautam Buddh Nagar of the National Capital Region (NCR), is also set to create a record by becoming the country’s largest. Located around 72 km from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, it will feature a multi-modal logistics hub at Dadri. If reports are to go by, the Noida airport will have multi-modal connectivity due to its proximity to the existing Yamuna Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and will also also be linked to Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at Ballabgarh in Haryana’s Faridabad district.
It will be connected to Noida via the metro as well. The other aspects of the Noida International Airport will be its ability to serve more than 12 million passengers a year, which will be expanded to 70 million passengers later by the end of Phase 4.
