Coca-Cola is putting Jack & Coke in a can

Coca-Cola is partnering with Brown-Forman to make a new canned cocktail combining Coke and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. The drink, which also will be available in a zero-sugar option, is hitting shelves in Mexico later this year before expanding globally.
The combination brings together “two of the world’s most recognizable and valuable trademarks,” the companies said in a press release, and will include “clear responsibility symbols” to indicate the beverage is for legal-aged drinkers. It will typically have 5% alcohol by volume, but that will vary depending on country.

Brown‑Forman CEO Lawson Whiting said that the partnership “brings together two classic American icons to deliver consumers a taste experience they love in a way that is consistent, convenient, and portable.” He added that the new drink will “accelerate expansion and continue to grow our business around the world.” Mexico was picked as a launch market because both brands are popular there and the country has a well-developed ready-to-drink market. A US launch is intended for sometime in 2023.

California Man Sets New Record for Eating the World’s Hottest Peppers

A San Diego man recently set a new Guinness World Record for eating three Carolina Reaper peppers, somehow swallowing every blistering bite in 8.72 seconds. According to Guinness, Gregory Foster just did this “as a personal challenge.” And not only that, it took him two tries to break the existing record, so he ate six Carolina Reapers that afternoon. The entire spectacle took place at San Diego’s Seaport Shopping Center. Foster’s 8.72 second achievement beat Canadian Mike Jack’s previous World Record by a full second. In case you’re doubting the intensity of a food with the word “Reaper” in its name, the Carolina Reaper has its own Guinness World Record as the world’s hottest pepper.

Taco Bell’s New High-Tech Drive-Thru Has Tiny Food Elevators

With menu items like the Doritos Locos Taco and those ooey-gooey Cinnabon Delights, Taco Bell has been ahead of the game for quite some time now. And now the fast food chain has even more up its sleeve with this week’s opening of a brand new, drive-thru-focused location in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

Called Taco Bell Defy, the new restaurant will boast a number of high-tech features, including fast-food elevators that deliver food to drivers. The tiny elevators, created by a company called Vertical Works, will serve as a food lift to quickly move orders to hungry diners.
