Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) and Air Mauritius concluded a productive participation in Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) 2024 on 14 July 2024 at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, Kolkata. The three-day event commenced on 12 July and played a pivotal in bringing Mauritius’ diverse tourism offerings into the horizon of East Indian travel trade fraternity.

Mr. Arvind Bundhun, Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), reflecting on the insights gained during the event, stated, “The East Indian region holds a great promise for destination Mauritus in terms of potential tourists. It is brimming with the kind of travelers that Mauritius expertly caters to, whether as a family-friendly getaway, a romantic destination or the celebration segment. Engaging with regional tour operators, and travel agents at TTF 2024 Kolkata enabled us to discern the nuances of the market. It has equipped us with relevant understanding of local audiences, travel patterns and emerging trends which is ancillary to our tourism promotion strategy.”

A secluded tropical paradise, Mauritius’ already spellbinding charm is elevated by a selection of premium luxury hotels, resorts and venues, making it a much-coveted destination for weddings, honeymoons, MICE and bleisure events. Its national carrier – Air Mauritius further enhances the island’s tourism appeal by linking it with India via non-stop flights from major cities to make travelling in either direction seamless for Indian travellers.

Summarizing their participation in TTF 2024 Kolkata, Mr. Sunil Mathapati, Country Manager for MTPA India, commented, “Our interaction with local travel trade businesses for the last three days have enabled us to gauge the demand for Mauritius in the Eastern market. The insights gained from this event will help us refine our strategies to promote Mauritius in alignment with preferences of regional travellers and effectively harness the untapped demand.”
