It has been 20 years since the first film of Harry Potter hit the big screen. Potter heads in London and around the world are celebrating it with book and movie marathons, and, of course, food (considering all seven of the Harry Potter books are packed with references to food).
While the best of the Potter universe foods may be those that come solely from the wizarding world (butterbeer, chocolate frogs, sugar quills) but much of the food mentioned in the series, however, comes straight from classic British cooking.
Here is a look at some of the magical dishes from ‘Harry Potter’ that are actually real and waiting to be feasted on.
1. Yorkshire Pudding: is an absolute classic at English Sunday Roasts, Christmas Dinner, from potter’s food universe and a welcome accompaniment to any holiday meal. Golden and delicious, made from a creamy batter consisting of flour, eggs, and milk or water, Yorkshire pudding is a match made in heaven for roasting turkey and other holiday meats and tasting wonderful with gravy poured on top. 2. Knickerbocker Glory – a classic British dessert (Ice-cream sundae) prepared by layering ice cream, meringue, cream, and fruit in a large, tall glass. The dessert is traditionally topped with various syrups, nuts, and a single cherry on top.
3. Steak and Kidney Pie: This satisfying and comforting steak and kidney pie is a classic British dish that incorporates beef steak and kidneys that are cooked inside a flaky, buttery pastry shell and is still served in numerous pubs throughout the country from potters food universe.

4. Treacle Tart: Traditionally served warm, with a dollop of clotted cream, whipped cream, or a few scoops of ice cream on the side, Treacle tart is a traditional British dessert consisting of a shortcrust pastry filled with sugar syrup, breadcrumbs, and lemon juice. from potters food universe .
5. Kippers: Another traditional British breakfast dish consisting of a whole herring that is halved, gutted, seasoned with salt, and then smoked or barbecued is Kippers. 7. Butterbeer: Harry Potter introduced us to all manner of wizardry, from intricate potions and spells to flying brooms and fantastical creatures. But curious drinkers have always gravitated toward one particular invention: Butterbeer. Fortunately, Harry Potter’s favorite drink is simple to replicate, so you don’t need to visit the Three Broomsticks bar to try it. Here’s the recipe:
30 ml butterscotch schnapps
30 ml vanilla vodka
180ml cream soda or regular soda
Garnish: whipped cream/butterscotch syrup/butterscotch whipped cream
Method:
Add butterscotch schnapps, vanilla vodka and cream soda into a frosty mug.
Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream and butterscotch syrup drizzled on top, or top with butterscotch whipped cream.
*Butterscotch whipped cream: In a mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream and 30ml butterscotch sundae topping. Using a hand mixer, whip until soft peaks form.
For an easier and nonalcoholic version of the butterbeer, simply remove the vanilla vodka and butterscotch schnapps, and replace them with a dash of vanilla extract and butter extract.
Harry Potter 20th anniversary reunion special: In what’s sure to be a spellbinding reunion, cast members from all eight Harry Potter films will reconvene to recount the making of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone two decades after its theatrical release. The special, titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, will feature “in-depth interviews and cast conversations” about one of the most beloved pop culture franchises, according to Warner Media.
