Happiness is knowing that there’s a pie in the oven, and if you’re really lucky you’ll find the Banoffee Pie – a classic British dessert made with the magical combination of the goodness of banana, the richness of toffee and crowned with layers of whipped cream (brings delight to all), that first saw the light of day in East Sussex in the early 70s. This one has a buttery biscuit base or one made from crumbled biscuits and butter and is made on the hob rather than boiling the condensed milk in the can for hours. Some versions of the recipe also include chocolate, coffee, or both.
And while we’re used to opting for the traditional pie there are many other banoffee-inspired desserts to be had. From pavlovas to popsicles and from parfaits to cheesecakes, no matter what you crave, Banoffee’s got you covered!
