The turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean at the country’s southern extremity is the epicentre of its marine biodiversity. The Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park is a knitted archipelago of 21 islets and adjacent coral reefs that house 4,223 species of underwater flora and fauna. Hopping on a glass bottom boat from Kunthukal beach unveils magical run-ins with dolphins, olive ridley and hawksbill turtles, exotic seahorses and schools of vibrant fishes.
