A young, 13-year-old chef is now putting Indian food on the world map. Dev, born in Australia to Indian parents, left the judges of Junior MasterChef Australia stunned with his exceptional cooking skills.

During the episode, Dev prepared a platter of lamb Mughlai curry with saffron rice, raita, chutney and smoked chicken kebabs. “This dish represents my heritage, different Indian flavours and techniques,” said Dev on the show.

The judges were so impressed that they couldn’t help reaching for more. “The lamb shoulder here, the cook is amazing. The level of spice is incredible. The creaminess, the heat, the tingle. The way the lamb falls apart in your mouth when you’re chewing it is just exceptional… My mouth is still watering. I am having difficulty speaking, it is watering that much,” said Zonfrillo.

Dev, along with another participant, won the Immunity Pin, which allows them to save themselves from elimination at any given time during the show. The 13-year-old is among the 14 of 2,000 applicants selected to take part in this season. Former MasterChef winner Shashi Chelia’s 11-year-old son, Ryan, is also competing on the show.

Here is the video of the judges’ reaction to Dev’s cooking that was shared on the official Instagram handle of the show:
