Odisha’s heritage sites are now part of guided walking tours

Odisha Walks is the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation’s new initiative and it will take visitors on a fascinating walking tour of the 10th century Mukteshwar, 11th century Lingaraj temple, Shanti Stupa, Khandagiri caves and Udayagiri caves.

These five guided tours fall on the already identified heritage circuits, and now with a guide giving proper information and history on these sites, visitors can learn about the rich architecture, rituals, culture and traditions that are all a part of these sites.

You will soon be able to enjoy stargazing near Ajanta Caves!

As per the news reports, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has decided to start a stargazing project near Ajanta Caves in Aurangabad by next month-end. 

The project will be set up and operated from a secluded site called the ‘Ajanta view point’, which is away from light and offers a 270 degree view of the Ajanta Caves hill. The site already has several amenities for visitors, and that its latest project will be a community-based tourism project, wherein local people will be trained in the use of telescopes to give a basic knowledge of stars seen in the sky. In all likelihood, the project will start by November-end.

Hollongi Airport in Itanagar is ready for operations after successful test landing

Good news from Arunachal Pradesh! The Hollongi Airport, also known as Donyi Polo Airport, in Itanagar is all set for operations. Indigo airline also successfully conducted a test landing on Tuesday. The airport, which will be inaugurated soon, is now ready for its first flight.

  • The airport is situated in Hollongi Village, which is about 15 km from Itanagar.
  • The airport is constructed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at a cost of INR 645 crore (estimated).
  • As of now, the airport will feature a 500-meter runway expansion to accommodate A-321 aircraft in the coming time.
  • The terminal structure of the airport is spread over 4100 sq m.
  • During peak seasons, the airport will be able to accommodate 200 passengers.
