Asheville eatery, Chai Pani has been voted the best restaurant in the US, The world’s fanciest KFC restaurant just opened in an American town and more in top stories of the day.
Indian Eatery ‘Chai Pani’ Named America’s Best Restaurant At Prestigious US Awards
The “James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant” this year went to Chai Pani, an Asheville restaurant that serves vibrant, crunchy Indian street foods. The menu at Chai Pani, whose name literally translates to tea and water, features Indian snacks called “chaat” that are known for a mix of spicy, sweet and tangy flavors.
Other winners included the Native American restaurant Owamni in Minneapolis, where the staff is 75% indigenous, as Best New Restaurant. Outstanding Baker was Don Guerra at Barrio Bread in Tucson, Arizona, where he uses ancient grains that have seeds adapted to grow in the desert. Mashama Bailey of The Grey in Savannah, Georgia, was named Outstanding Chef. Chris Bianco of Tratto, Pane Bianco and Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix was named Outstanding Restaurateur.
British Airways introduces plant-based menu to airport lounges
With veganism on the rise, BA has announced it will be introducing a range of plant-based meals in its first and business class lounges (but only in the UK and US). Working with “expert catering providers”, the menus will initially roll out across the airline’s Heathrow lounges, before appearing in its US lounges too. British Airways says it is “committed to improving choice, to offer something for everyone whilst championing local producers and businesses”.
Customers will continue to order food to their table using their smartphone, an initiative introduced by BA during the pandemic which it has decided to keep.
The World’s Fanciest KFC Restaurant Just Opened In Painted Post, N.Y
When it comes to upscale dining, most people don’t think of buckets of fried chicken. Even less so, the American quick-service chain KFC. But didn’t stop the brand from unveiling one of the most over-the-top, grandiose fast-food restaurants in the world, which looks more like a fine-dining establishment than a fried chicken joint. Aptly named the Crystal Bucket, KFC’s fanciest restaurant is located in the small town of Painted Post, N.Y. The location has already been called “the most beautiful KFC in the world,” by those who have seen it.
While the Crystal Bucket is a singular design, it does incorporate some of the chain’s new digital elements that are part of its Next Generation stores. These include built-in pickup cubbies and dedicated parking for digital order pickup.
