New Zealand opens borders to tourists as pandemic rules eases
Earlier this week, New Zealand welcomed tourists from the United States, Canada, Britain, Japan and more than 50 other countries for the first time in more than two years after dropping most of its remaining pandemic border restrictions. While it has still not opened the borders for India, China and other non-waiver countries, New Zealand has announced that it will fully reopen to international visitors on July 31, two months ahead of schedule.
Japan plans to reopen to tourism in June
While much of the world has now opened up – in some form or other – to international travellers, some countries have been much slower to lower entry restrictions and encourage the return of tourists. Take Japan, for instance. Tourists have been barred from entering Japan for the best part of two years. While the country opened up in April to some overseas residents, business travellers and foreign students, tourists are still banned from obtaining visas. However last week Japan announced, the country is aiming to reopen to international tourists in June – which means that your trip of a lifetime may be just a month away!
Croatia lifts all COVID travel restrictions
The pandemic has changed travel in Europe, which continues to be subject to restrictions as the omicron variant takes hold. These are the current rules in Croatia. The country lifted all COVID-19 travel restrictions. Travelers to Croatia no longer need to provide any proof of vaccination or test results, regardless of their citizenship. They no longer need to fill out the ‘Enter Croatia’ form.
Myanmar issuing tourist visas
Myanmar announced it would resume issuing visas to international travelers as part of an effort to assist its tourism industry, which has been devastated by the coronavirus pandemic. Myanmar’s borders have been closed to tourists since March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. From May 15, 2022, Myanmar will begin accepting e-Visa tourist applications. Visitors need a certificate of vaccination, negative results from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken shortly before their flight, and a travel insurance policy. They must also take an ATK rapid test after arrival.
