You may recognize this cozy NYC cafe lalo from Nora Ephron’s 1998 rom-com film You’ve Got Mail, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. But that’s not its only claim to fame. This Upper West Side hangout, which is regularly teeming with tourists, also lures crowds for its European vibes and charming ambiance (brick walls, Art Nouveau posters) and an impressive display case packed with pastries, desserts, cookies, gourmet coffees, and more. Our personal recommendation would be the French “Kiss” Quiche – a savory dish, made with imported aged German Gruyere cheese with your choice of shiitake mushrooms, cauliflower with black olives, mixed vegetables, zucchini, or spinach. If you are a waffle lover like us then indulge in their Belgian Waffles, served with your choice of plain yogurt, plain or cinnamon whipped cream, or fresh fruit. Don’t forget to drizzle Vermont maple, pecan, hazelnut, or macadamia syrups. What’s not to love, eh?
